Obituary For James Thomasson February 27 1952 – August 17 2026

With fond memories and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James Daniel Thomasson on August 17, 2026, at the age of 74.

Born on February 27, 1952, James grew up in Texas and graduated from Aldine High School in Houston with the Class of 1970. A dedicated hard worker with a passion for the open road, he spent over 35 years as a cross-country truck driver, working for Link America, K&E Transport, and Builders Transport. While he was known as “Watch Dog” on the road, the ones at home knew him as “Pops.” He had a deep love for fishing, shared a special bond with Abbi and Remington, and was happiest whenever he could tag along on adventures with Daniel and the boys.

James was preceded in death by his beloved parents, J.D. and Dorothy Thomasson, Wife Janna Thomasson, and his sister, Norma Mendoiza. He is survived by his sister, Sandy Knight of The Woodlands, TX; his children, Wendy Whitsett of Texas City, TX, Shelly Burns of Gardner, KS, James Thomasson of Denison, TX, Daniel Thomasson of Blanchard, OK, and Jenna Thomasson of Henryetta, OK; and a wide circle of extended family and friends whose lives were certainly touched by him, and who will undoubtedly be telling his crazy stories for years to come.

Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Saturday, August 22, 2026 at the Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Judd Knowels officiating. Interment will follow at the Salem Cemetery under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home.
