Hazel Saunders – October 4 1924 – March 10 2026

Hazel Yvonne Saunders was born on October 4, 1924 to John Barney Lockhart and Cora Runyan Lockhart, on her daddy’s birthday at Middle Creek, a small community south of Dustin, OK
She passed this life in the presence of Heavenly Angels and her son Steve and daughter in law Connie, March 10, 2026 in Eufaula, OK.
On March 20th, 1951 Hazel married Herman Saunders at the Nazarene Church in Henryetta. To this union was born their son Stephen. Hazel was employed at Kuykendell Shoe Store in Henryetta where she met her future husband Herman. Herman often said “She was the only person that ever sold him a pair of shoes that didn’t fit!”
Hazel retired from the American Exchange Bank after 33 years of employment so she could keep her only grandson Jordan, who was the apple of her eye. She was a longtime member of the First Assembly of God Church in Henryetta where she functioned in many ministries, including Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader and various offices of the Church. She then became a member of the Methodist Church where she influenced many lives for Jesus and many lasting friendships.
Hazel loved to sing and perform in a trio with Johnnie Jobe and Winona Wilmoth on radio and in church, where they shared the love of Jesus with many. Today the Trio is together again!
She is preceded in death by her husband Herman, Parents, sisters Ruth Lockhart Arnold and husband Carl. Brother Herb Lockhart and wife Leatrill, Elmer Lockhart and wife Eunice, Palmer Lockhart and wife Polly Anna and Sidney Lockhart.
She is survived by her son Steve Saunders and wife Connie. Grandson Jordan Saunders and wife Kasey. Great Grandsons Cannon and Callan of whom she was so proud of.
