Banning Applauds LifeWise Expansion for Bixby Schools

OKLAHOMA CITY – Rep. Chris Banning, R-Bixby, applauded the Bixby Public Schools Board of Education following its approval of an expansion of LifeWise Academy’s Bible-based character education program for the upcoming school year.

The board voted 4-0 to allow LifeWise Academy to offer weekly, off-campus classes to eligible students at six Bixby Public Schools campuses. The privately funded program provides Bible-based character education during the school day at nearby churches. Participation is voluntary and requires parental permission.

“I’m proud of Bixby Public Schools for working with LifeWise to make this opportunity available to more families in our community,” Banning said. “Parents know their children best, and when families want their kids to have access to Bible-based character education, I appreciate our local schools finding a way to support that choice. LifeWise has already put a tremendous amount of work into serving Bixby students, and I’m excited to see the program continue to grow. Congratulations to Bixby Public Schools and the LifeWise team for getting this expansion across the finish line.”

LifeWise previously offered classes to Bixby students during the spring semester and plans to expand its reach during the upcoming school year. Under the program, participating students leave campus for instruction and return to school afterward, with transportation provided by the program.
